I am Nigerian resident Ibako sharing my experience of my sister’s Heart failure surgery in India. The next day my sister was in the operation theatre for Heart ICD implant. Cardioverter defibrillators implantation involves making an incision below one of the collarbones. The leads were placed into the heart through the vein that runs next to the collarbone. Up to two leads was placed inside the heart. One lead was placed in the ventricle (bottom chamber) and one was placed in the atrium (top chamber), on the right side of heart. During the operation, routine electrical measurements of the heart was made to be sure that the leads were positioned correctly. After placing the leads, they were connected to the implantable Cardioverter defibrillators. The device was placed under the skin in the upper chest. The physician triggered the heart to beat rapidly, and then use the implantable Cardioverter defibrillators to deliver a shock to the heart and stop the rapid beating; this was done two to five times to make sure the implantable Cardioverter defibrillators functions properly. The procedure took about 15 to 25 minutes to complete. A chest x-ray was performed after the procedure to be sure the leads are in the proper position.

My sister was there in the hospital for more 2 days after her Heart failure surgery and the doctors kept a constant check on my sister’s health. She was discharged from the hospital and was told to follow after care procedures post Cardiac stroke treatment. Now I am happy to see my sister leading a healthy lifestyle and doing normal activities. Surgeons who performed my sister’s heart failure surgery were experienced in their relative field. Hospital where the surgery has been performe was the best that I can say.
