ABOUT NEPAL

down

Nepal, a part of Asia, lies along the southern slopes of the Himalayan mountain ranges. It is a landlocked country located between India to the east, south, and west and the Tibet Autonomous Region of China to the north. Its capital is Kathmandu and its territory extends roughly 500 miles (800 kilometres) from east to west and 90 to 150 miles from north to south. Nepal was long under the rule of hereditary prime ministers favouring a policy of isolation, remained closed to the outside world until a palace revolt in 1950 restored the crown's authority in 1951; and gained admission to the United Nations in 1955. In 2008, however, after a decade long span of violence and turbulent negotiation with a strong Maoist insurgency, the monarchy was dissolved, and Nepal was declared a democratic republic.

Wedged between two giants, India and China, Nepal maintains its balance between the two countries in its foreign policy - and thus to remain independent. A major factor that contributes immensely to the geopolitical importance of the country is the fact that Nepal with all its strength can deny China access to the rich Gangetic Plain. Bordering China in the north and India in the south, east, and west, it is the largest sovereign Himalayan state. As a result of its years of geographic and self-imposed isolation, Nepal is one of the least developed nations of the world. In recent years many countries, including India, China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Denmark, Germany, Canada, and Switzerland, have aided with economic assistance to Nepal. The extent of foreign aid to Nepal has been influenced to a considerable degree by the strategic position of the country between India and China.

Nepal contains some of the most rugged and difficult mountainous terrains in the world. Roughly 75 percent of the country is covered by mountains. From the south to the north, Nepal can be divided into four main physical belts, each of which extends east to west across the country. These are, first, the Tarai, a low, flat, fertile land adjacent to the border of India; second, the forested Churia foothills and the Inner Tarai zone, rising from the Tarai plain to the rugged Mahabharat Range; third, the mid-mountain region between the Mahabharat Range and the Great Himalayas; and, fourth, the Great Himalaya Range, rising to more than 29,000 feet (some 8,850 metres). Thus, Nepal's climate, influenced by the elevation as well as by its location in a subtropical latitude, ranges from subtropical monsoon conditions in the Tarai, to a warm temperate climate between 4,000 and 7,000 feet in the mid-mountain region, to cool temperate conditions in the higher parts of mountains between 7,000 and 11,000 feet, to an Alpine climate at altitudes between 14,000 and 16,000 feet along the lower slopes of the Himalaya mountains. The flora and fauna of this country is varied and depends a lot on the complex climatic conditions.

The large-scale migrations of Asian groups from Tibet and Indo-Aryan people from northern India, which accompanied the early settlement of Nepal, have produced a diverse linguistic, ethnic, and religious pattern. The principal and official language of Nepal is Nepali (Gorkhali), spoken in the Tarai and the mid-mountain region. Nepali, a derivative of Sanskrit, belongs to the Indo-Aryan branch of the Indo-European family. A majority of the population is Hindu, but a small percentage follows Buddhism or other religious faiths. Hindus and Buddhists tend to be concentrated in areas where Indian and Tibetan cultural influences, respectively, have been dominant.

The healthcare sector is not really matured in Nepal. There is inadequacy of healthcare services in specific areas. Although the government is trying hard to improve the conditions but still there are many loopholes. Dealing with shortage of paramedic staff, long waiting periods, and most importantly the skyrocketing treatment costs, is very challenging here. Also, there is severe lack of health education. The distribution of healthcare facilities is not proportionate as per social and economic classes. Also, the variation in quality and quantity of treatment and expenditure is not that good when compared to other countries. This makes many people from Nepal opt for getting treated in other countries rather than in Nepal.

With the medical tourism industry gaining fast-paced popularity, a large number of patients from Nepal are finalizing India as their treatment destination. The main attractive facet that is drawing the attention of these patients is the availability of reasonably priced treatments and that too with zero waiting periods. This is majorly helping these patients in saving a lot of money compared to what they have to shell out in their own country. Majority of the treatments in India cost about as low as one tenth of what they cost in Nepal.

Why should patients from Nepal choose India for various healthcare treatments and procedures?

Today, India has truly proved herself as a very promising option as a medical tourism destination. Imagine a complex medical procedure being done by the most adept surgeons and at prices as low as one-tenth of what it costs in other leading nations. That's India! India has some of the best qualified professionals in each and every medical sphere, and this fact has now been identified and widely accepted by people around the globe. Right from quality of services, range of surgeries and treatment options, availability of cutting edge infrastructure and skilled manpower to perform any medical procedure, to zero waiting time - the list of advantages goes on. Some of the factors that are drawing the attention of medical tourists are:

  • Expert physicians and specialists with national and international experience
  • Usage of cutting edge technology matching global benchmarks
  • Highly trained nurses/paramedics and assistant staff
  • Low or zero waiting period
  • Rejuvenation and recreational programmes for patients
  • Huge costs benefits as compared to other countries

As a medical tourism destination, India maintains not only a strong accreditation system, but also a large number of accredited facilities. So if you or your loved ones have been suggested a complex procedure or any other treatment, India would obviously be the best decision. India offers top notch medical facilities, at par with any of the leading nations, competitive prices for treatments along with patient friendly ambience, making India a very lucrative destination.

All leading and recognized hospitals have invested a lot in technology and operative techniques as newer and newer technologies are being adopted on a regular basis here. Thus, complicated heart surgeries, oncology and related cure and surgeries, neurosurgeries and even general surgeries are handled by using high-end technology for safe and better outcomes, to minimize complications, enable faster recovery and reduce the duration of hospital stay. Thus, all these advantages prove that India is totally equipped and matured when it comes to being a medical tourism destination. Thus, you can stay assured of getting the best in India.

Some of the reasons that place us in a further advantageous position than others

To get your minds cleared of this dilemma, we can arrange for a free second opinion through our empanelled hospitals and doctors/surgeons. This certainly boosts and reinforces the trust between us.

3. Special packages - Another significant factor that worries patients while choosing a treatment destination is whether they will be able to bear the cost of the treatments. We are here to ensure that patients are happy and supremely satisfied with the pricing of the treatments and procedures, they are looking for. We offer tailor-made packages keeping in mind that patients are coming from all economic sections of the society.

4. Language Assistance - There should be no communication gap between the doctor and the patients. Therefore, it is very crucial issue as health issues need to be communicated accurately and in a very detailed manner. So it is very important that the medical staff is capable of comprehending what the patient is trying to communicate. In case there are any interruptions, we look after this issue by arranging expert translators/interpreters so that your requirement reaches the doctor properly and vice versa.

5. Follow up services - Timely follow up is extremely vital for speedy recovery. Without proper follow up, the procedure is considered incomplete. This phase is vital both for the patient as well as the doctor/surgeon otherwise it's a failure on both sides. We ensure that there are no interruptions in the follow up phase, by arranging for follow up services even after the patient is back in his own country.

6. Quick visa assistance - We have 24/7 visa assistance staff to take care of all your queries and needs related to visa. We understand that every health issue has its own amount of urgency. Fijo from Nepal overcomes his back pain wih disc replacement surgery in India
Fijo Basnet Nepal, Disc Replacement

“Hello my name is Fijo Basnet and I am from Nepal. I was recommended a lumbar disc replacement as a cure for my excruciating back pain. However not all the medical centres in Nepal offer advanced surgeries and few of them who provide the same have high prices for the treatment. Thus my family took the decision to take me to India for my surgery. After doing sufficient research and going through all the leading medical tourism firms in India for further assistance in my treatment, we came across the website of Tour2India4Health. Their packages were both ideal and distinct, thus we decided to proceed with them for my treatment.”

“I wasn’t totally convinced to receive treatment from abroad until I got to experience the hospitality with which the services were offered by Tour2India4Health. The firm had made all the necessary arrangements before our arrival and the experts here made sure that we get full time assistance during our stay that included them taking care of VISA, hotel reservations, conveyance and even food.” With Tour2India4Health I underwent disc replacement surgery in the best orthopaedic hospital of India and don’t even remember one day when I was not received with smile. Not only did I receive the best treatment but also received it a truly reasonable price. Thanks to the team of Tour2India4Health for keeping up with all my requirements and helping me get over my pain.”
