In recent times due to urbanization, the cases of heart disease have gone up in the city of Mumbai. Many people require treatment for heart attacks. A little knowledge and understanding on how to prevent heart attacks and what to do if it occurs is helpful to everyone. This presentation helps us with information which if made part of our general knowledge, would go a long way in helping ourselves and others. Dr. Shripal M. Doshi is an eminent Cardio-thoracic and Vascular Surgeon of the city of Mumbai. He is practicing this specialty since last 25 years. He has taken his basic education in Medicine at B. Y. L. Nair Charitable Hospital and passed his M.S. General Surgery and M.ch. Thoracic Surgery in year 1981 and 1983 respectively. For advance training in the subject he has visited U.K., U.S.A. and Austria. Though a surgeon he stood 1st in Medicine at Bombay University during his 3rd yr M.B.B.S. examination. By now he has performed about 5000 heart surgeries, which includes mainly Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery and Valve Replacement Surgeries. He is one of the few cardiac surgeons in the city of Mumbai who does lung surgery with equal interest. At present he is attached to citys best hospitals, which includes Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre, Harkisondas Hospital, Smt. Susheela Ben R. Mehta and Sir Kikabhai Premchand Cardiac Institute at Sion, Hiranandani and Bhatiya Hospital. He is a Cardiac Surgeon with an unusual quality i.e. he does many of his surgeries at no cost or at a nominal cost and this is because more than profession it is his hobby.
