General Requirements for all VISA Applicants

Return air tickets.

Yellow Fever Certificate is compulsory for the visit to India.

Bank statement for last three months. The Account’s statement should be certified by the bank and must indicate the name of the applicant, full address and telephone/fax numbers

A separate letter giving full details of previous visits to India, including periods of stay

Your CV/bio-data

A separate letter, which gives your present occupation and detailed purpose of your intended visit to India.
In case of someone else bank-statement, please enclose the affidavit of the person sponsoring the expenses along with the copy of the photo identity card bearing the signature of the sponsor.
Medical Visa Regulations of India
The eligibility Criteria and Visa Regulations for obtaining Indian Medical Visas are:

The applicant must provide the documents to prove that he/she had undergone preliminary medical treatments in his/her own country and he/she has been advised to undergo a specialized treatment abroad.

The applicants of Indian Medical Visas should demonstrate that they need proper medical treatments from a recognized medical institution or a treatment center for the specialized treatments.

In certain serious medical conditions like heart problems, neuro-surgery, organ transplants, etc, the applicants of Indian Medical Visas are given higher priority by the Indian immigration authorities.

The people or patients from foreign countries coming through the Indian Medical Visas should register their arrival in India within 14 days in the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).

The applicants of Indian Medical Visas should provide the documents related to their communication with the Medical Institution which provides the treatment to the applicant, in India. Right before an Indian - Medical Visa is granted to an applicant, The Indian Mission Abroad sensitizes the applicant on the necessary facilities available in the medical institution and the details of the institution whether it is reputed one or not.

Only two people can accompany a patient who applied for a Visa. They may be the family members or the attendants, and their Visas to India are of co-terminus with the patient’s ‘M’ Visa.
Visas to Attendants / Family Members
Attendants or family members of medical patients traveling to India will be given miscellaneous visas co-terminus with the ‘M Visa’ of the patient. Such visas can be granted to the spouse / children or blood relations of the patient. It must also be noted that not more than two attendants will be considered for miscellaneous visas at a given time. Such visas will be called ‘MX visas’. These persons also need to get themselves registered with the local FRRO’s / FRO’s within 14 days from the date of arrival.
Validity of Visa and Extension of Visa
The initial period for such a visa may be upto a period of one year or the period of treatment whichever less, which can be extended for a further period upto one year be the State Government/ FRROs on the production of medical certificate/ advice from the reputed/ recognized/ specialized hospitals in the country. Any further extension will be granted by the Ministry of Home Affairs only on the recommendations of the State Government/ FRROs supported by appropriate Medical documents. Such visa will be valid for maximum three entries during one year. State Government/ FRROs may permit one additional entry in emergent situation if required.
